Beach Fly

Bio

When John DeMari of Beach Fly sat down to talk about his career for this biography, he had to cut the interview short to pick up his mom from the airport.

Making authentic island vibe style music for only two years, Beach Fly has already risen to the top of a short list of buzzing artists in the scene. Over 25M streams, major festival appearances, performing at legendary venues like 9:30 Club from coast to coast, collaborating with artists he grew up listening to and signing to Ineffable Records, it has been a good year for Beach Fly as they accomplish the goals that previously seemed feasible only in dreams.

Creating the 2 Minute Podcast during the pandemic gave DeMari the opportunity to get in the game, and interviewing artists led to making friends with artists and attending more festivals. One night at Camp Redwoods in California, John grabbed his guitar and played for everyone who had congregated around the campfire. The positive reception of that impromptu performance led to what we now know as Beach Fly; DeMari playing live with a great group of musicians including 21 year old Bass phenom Matthew Dickey James and DeMari’s father “Pops”, who has become a recognizable character for an audience of ages four to ninety-four.

In the vein of Jack Johnson, Beach Fly has pushed a future of music that is hopeful, one where people recognize that shared experience has soul. A fan focused community platform where love, conversation and being together in the moment lead to real positive improvement in the lives of all involved. With an unshakable ethos, clearly never wearing closed toed shoes is not the only trait DeMari shares with Jack Johnson.

Co-Produced by Carter Reeves (Aer, Surfer Girl)  with additional production from Johnny Cosmic (Stick Figure, The Elovaters), Noah Cronin (The Green, Landon McNamara) and EN Young; Beach Fly’s debut album, Flying, includes the hit song Sun Drunk, written after an evening supporting The Elovaters in Rhode Island and having a couple beers with the crew, the kind of effortless writing that comes from living the lifestyle you talk about every day. With Flying gaining support as more people join the proverbial campfire jam that gave Beach Fly their start, DeMari has been in the studio working on the sophomore follow up, to be released via indie powerhouse Ineffable Records.

The future looks increasingly bright for Beach Fly, and even though he has already reached those initial goals he had set, there is so much further to take the dream, and DeMari is ready to put everything he has into chasing it. But his priorities never wavering, his mom’s flight will be landing shortly.
