After establishing a widely successful career as the founder, composer, keyboardist and guitarist in the band Lotus, the talented Luke Miller has added a solo DJ/Producer moniker Luke the Knife. This project was formed as a creative outlet for his DJing and electronic solo production. 2021 saw the release of his debut original album “Disco Nap” including the song “She’s So Damn Fine” with vocals by CHERUB. The LP mixed funky club oriented tracks with more downtempo jams. A few months later came the EP “Feel So Strong” that focused on funk and disco cuts. Along the way were singles on labels such as Breakbeat Paradise Recordings and STAY:UP.
Rooted in the realm of groovy instrumentals with disco and rock sensibilities, Luke The Knife has captured the attention of global audiences with notable performances at festivals like Bonnaroo, Electric Forest, Ultra Music Festival, Fuji Rock, Outside Lands, as well as headlining top-tier venues like Red Rocks with the Lotus band. Their eclectic discography and expressive performances continue to resonate with fans across the world.
With a venerated music career, Luke The Knife's keen aptitude for eloquent compositions is extremely evident. Luke Miller's honed musical ear and unique blend of downtempo funky electronic music sets him apart as an artist and leaves much to be desired as he explores new boundaries as Luke The Knife.
“When the lockdown hit I had my first long-term break from touring in many, many years. I took that opportunity to start writing original Luke the Knife tracks. At first I was planning on doing mainly disco and funk influenced tracks. I recorded a full album-worth of those and thought I was done with the debut. I kept listening to these over and over and I felt like it didn't represent the full vision I wanted for Luke the Knife. So I wrote 9 more tunes pushing into more sides of my sound - tech house, future funk, bass house, melodic techno. Then I picked the best from both groups to make “Disco Nap”. It's a special pleasure to release my first solo album and bring these original Luke the Knife tracks to people's ears.” - Luke Miller
