Bio
Timothy Howls is the solo project of Tim Lopez, a Santa Barbara-born, Austin-based singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. Lopez is best known as a member of the band Plain White T's, with whom he achieved multiplatinum success and received two GRAMMY Award nominations.
In 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Lopez embarked on a solo endeavor under the moniker Timothy Howls, marking a shift in his musical style. He released his debut EP, The Rubble, which blends introspective singer-songwriter elements with classic and Americana rock influences. Notably, the single "Lightning from the Blue Sky" was produced by Adrian Quesada of Black Pumas and mixed by Jim Eno of Spoon.
Building on this, Lopez has also explored country music, incorporating its storytelling and melodic elements into his evolving sound. The name "Timothy Howls" was inspired by the Latin meaning of "Lopez," which translates to "wolf," symbolizing his personal and musical evolution.
Through Timothy Howls, Lopez continues to explore new creative avenues, offering a fresh perspective on his musical journey that now embraces a mix of indie, rock, and country influences.
